What you will do:
- Conduct specialized technical services (installation, configuration or repair) on equipment represented by TELNAV and that the employee has training certifications on, for specialty services provided.
- Calibrate and align components, using scales, gauges, and other measuring instruments.
- Examine malfunctioning radio equipment to locate defects such as loose connections, broken wires, or burned-out components, using schematic diagrams and test equipment.
- Install, adjust, and repair stationary and mobile radio transmitting and receiving equipment and two-way radio communication systems.
- Studying and preparing for upcoming inspections including keeping up-to-date with technologies, regulations, client-specific concerns, and TELNAV’s specific internal techniques, processes and procedures.
- Read work orders, blueprints, plans, datasheets, or site drawings to determine work to be done.
- Install all necessary transmission equipment.
- Attend technical training classes to remain up-to-date with technologies and regulations within the industry at large.
- Preparing technical reports of inspections performed according to TELNAV’s specific internal techniques, processes and procedures.
- Uploading technical data to company’s and manufacturer’s systems utilizing TELNAV’s internal technologies and following internal quality control processes and procedures.
- Programming and testing of Voyage Data Recorders (VDR), radars, Electronics Chart Display and Information Systems, Gyrocompass, and Global Maritime Distress Safety Systems (GMDSS).
- Position requires up to 50% domestic travel and 10% international travel.
Position Requirements:
- The position requires an Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Telecommunications, Industrial Electronics Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field.
- In lieu of an Associate’s degree, will accept a high school diploma with technical education in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Telecommunications, Industrial Electronics Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field.
- The qualified candidate must have at least 3 years (36 months) of experience in an electronics technician position or closely related occupation.
- The qualified candidate must also have at least 3 years (36 months) of experience with all of the following:
- (a) installation, configuration, and repair of navigation and telecommunication equipment;
- (b) verifying and confirming the readiness and safety of navigation and telecommunication equipment in large-scale commercial vessels;
- (c) ensuring international regulations and technical requirements are met;
- (d) preparing technical reports and recording technical data; and
- (e) Programming and testing of Voyage Data Recorders (VDR), radars, Electronics Chart Display and Information Systems, Gyrocompass, and Global Maritime Distress Safety Systems (GMDSS).
- All experience may be gained concurrently
